A Christmas Dance with the Divine: Finding the Heart Magic
Would you like to recapture the magic of Christmas?
Find joy in the simple pleasures of the season?
Experience a deeper connection with the Divine?
This week I listened to the December energy update by Lee Harris, an energy intuitive with whom my heart resonates. He was encouraging us to turn from fear, doubt, and the unrest so prevalent in our world today and find the “heart magic”—that which lights us up and brings us joy during this Christmas season.
As I was sitting in my meditation room this morning, with my candles lit and my journal in hand, I felt that heart magic--a quiet sense of peace, joy, and contentment. I felt connected to my inner spirit.
Whenever we connect with our inner spirit, we are opening our hearts and minds to heart magic, but the Christmas season—with its heightened energy—is a perfect time to connect with that magic. We may experience heart magic as we:
Reflect on the birth of the Christ child and the awe and wonder we feel when we remember that holy night so long ago.
Awaken to the light within us—the Christ within—our divine essence—our inner spirit.
Are willing to see beyond appearances or differences and see through the eyes of love.
Know that—just as the wise men and shepherds were guided by a star to the Christ child—so we are guided by our inner star on our pathway through life.
How do we tap into that heart magic and experience a joyful, heart-centered Christmas dance with the Divine?
1. Focus on gratitude. Gratitude opens the heart. Focus on what you have, not what you lack. Each day, take time to reflect on your blessings and to express your appreciation for each one.
2. Take time in the silence to connect with the Divine presence. Put aside the busyness of the season and make it a priority to be still and listen to the still, small voice within you. You might light a candle, remembering that the Christ light that shone within the tiny baby in a manger—a light which later shone so brightly that it changed the world—is not gone. It still shines in the heart of every person. Recognize that light in you.
3. Choose activities that bring you joy. Do you enjoy baking cookies, decorating your home, listening to Christmas music, meeting with family or friends, lighting candles, watching Christmas movies, attending a worship service? Choose the activities you enjoy and eliminate those that you don’t enjoy. If you think you must do certain activities, then change your attitude. Ask: “How can I do this task more easily and joyfully?” “How can I let it be fun?” “How can I see this situation in a more positive way?”
4. Infuse whatever you do with love. Choose gifts with love. Send love to the receiver as you send out cards and gifts. Bake and share cookies with love. Spend time with someone—a child, relative, an elderly friend, a nursing home resident and be a loving presence for them.
5. See the Christ light in yourself and others. Put aside differences and look for commonalities. Look for the good in each person you meet. See the beauty in yourself and others. When you look for the light, you’ll see it with your heart.
May you find the heart magic this season, and may your Christmas dance with the Divine be filled with peace, joy, and love!
